When targeting campaigns, basic demographic segments provide a good basis for reaching people relevant to your product. However, you can now improve your targeting even further. With our new Geo Area segments, you can reach people living in a specific type of geographical area.
Where we live defines our needs
When data segments are added to campaigns, it is often in form of demographic segments. It makes good sense as our gender, age, income level etc. to some extent define our needs. However, it isn’t just our demographic characteristics that define what types of products that appeal to us. So do the type of geographical area in which we live.
For instance, people in the cities may have different needs in terms of transportation, compared to those in rural areas. So, if you’re running a campaign for bicycles, you’re probably best off targeting those in the city, rather than rural areas. On the other hand, if you were running a campaign for pickup trucks, the opposite might be the case.
Use segments in combination
Naturally, the new Geo Area segments can be used isolated when targeting your campaigns. However, their true value shines through once you start combining them with our other segments. This allows you to reach people with children living in the city, nest builders living in the suburbs or people who intend to buy a car living in rural areas. Only your imagination sets the limit.
Three new segments introduced
With the introduction of our Geo Area segments, we make three different segments available:
- Urban: People living in densely populated municipalities like cities or large urban areas. View
- Suburban: People living in intermediate density municipalities like towns and suburbs or small urban areas. View
- Rural: People living in thinly populated municipalities like rural areas. View
As it is the case with the majority of our already existing segments, these new segments are available in both Adform and DoubleClick Bid Manager for clients in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Germany and the UK.
