Custom segments is an extension to the built-in demographic profile dimensions in AudienceReport which enables you to include additional profile dimensions when tracking campaign traffic. It can be used to profile the traffic exposed to a campaign as well as validate the ability to target different groups of users matching non-standard criteria.
In this way, advertisers can get insights into how well a campaign performs in regards to very specific target groups related to their product or service. And publishers can ensure their advertisers that they reach their desired target groups giving publishers the opportunity to document the quality of their media.
